Champion Beowulfs Grendl

Wanted to let all our OSR visitors know that today Kathy from Tok Alsaka had to say goodbye to her Champion Dog Grendl.

Kathy, we are thinking about you today.  Your photography, kindness and caring heart are an inspiration to all of us.

Kathy Writes….Today Grendl went on a journey to go live with his brothers and sister and mom and dad and all his cousins.

I sold Grendl as a puppy with the promise that he was to come back to me
first if the new owner  ever had to part with him.  2 yrs later
He was returned to me when his owner had life problems and couldn’t keep him any longer.

I’ve never been sorry to take him back.

Grendl acquired his Championship  fairly quickly and joined the ranks of
SHOW DOG in my home with his litter mates Ridge, River and Britt

Grendl and his siblings gave me their ‘all’ and  they leave a big gap and I
miss them terribly.  There was something extra special about this litter and
everyone that met them did also.

Grendle was on deaths doorway this morning and I spent most of the night and day just laying or sitting beside him stroking him and talking to him and I told him that when he went up to Heaven where his litter mates were that he
could chase all the birds he wanted..but he wasn’t allowed to catch any of
them.  God has rules you know :-)

But God gave “me” a gift at the end.  Grendl came out of his painful
struggle with his physical issues .. he came ‘alive’ the last hour of his
life and was HAPPY and appeared to be pain free and he was alert and we
played ‘fetch’ between his front legs… he would grab the toy and pull and
I’d pull and then I’d say “give’ and he’d let go obediently and then I’d
tease him a little and then tell him to fetch it up and he’d reach out and
grab it. We had a bit of time to enjoy one another one last time.

When the Vet came he barked and wanted to get up to see them.
He was a good boy right to the moment when God opened the door to Heaven and called his name

That is when I had to tell Grendl I’ll see you soon..its a Promise!

Thanks everyone for being his friend

We will miss him a lot as he held a very prestigious place in our home.  Not
so sure they will miss Grendls guarding the 10 foot space around him :-) but
its awful ‘quiet’ here now.
