Fergie, our OSR Mascot spent a full day on the job recently, keeping me company and watching the birds fly overhead. I figured that since she is the OSR Mascot and the greatest dog anyone could ask for, that she needed a little more mention on the site. She is an excellent retriever, pretty good tracker, great with my 3,6,& 11 year old children, and most of all loyal beyond comprehension.
When we go to work together she will walk by my side and pack the water bottles for the both of us. A few weeks ago I took her fishing with me and we walked over 8 miles. I did not pack enough water but I let her have most of it, which is crazy because she could of drank the canal water. On days she does not go to work she sits on the end of the driveway until I get home.
Two good websites to learn more about the Chesapeake Bay Retriever are Chesapeake Bay Retriever Website Established 1994 and Chesapeake’s Unlimited.
We adopted Fergie about 18 months ago from a home, but if you are interested in adopting a Chesapeake Bay Retriever take a look at Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue. One of the most rewarding benefits of having Fergie is the support we get from other Chessie owners who are as devoted to the Chesapeake Bay Retriever as the Chessie is to them.
