It is time for another contest, this time its Guess the Track Contest. The winner of the Guess the Track Contest will receive free of charge including free shipping a re-cycled copy of Michael Perry’s Population: 485. A great read and where I discovered folk artist John Prine. Here is a little taste of the book. Mike the author has decided after years of writing that he has lost some of his hardness so he volunteers for the local fire department. On page 133 he writes: “get out of bed!” my high school science teacher used to say. “people die in bed!” Truth be told, ambulance calls have taught me otherwise. People tend to die in the bathroom. They tip over while groping in the medicine cabinet for Maalox, or straining on the pot just enough to blow a leaking aneurysm.
Not sure why I picked page 133 as a sample, I use to think that the best way to go would be to get hit by falling limb while hitting a golf ball out of deep rough , quick and easy. Lately, I have found that fishing while wading in the ocean with a large fishing pole during lightning storm may be even better. No green fees for one and the other guys in the foursome would be spared the inconvenience of putting my clubs back in the truck. The need for a futile search for my keys would also be avoided as well as drawing straws to see which sorry sap would have to reach into my pockets.
Back to the contest, Guess the Track and win the book, its that simple. For the record, tire track is not the correct answer. First one to answer in the comment section is the winner.

Snipe? My second guess is hermit crab. I think there is also definitely a tire track in there, I’m going to say Goodyear.
Both guesses are incorrect, The Tire is correct but that contest is in the Car and Driver magazine. If you win I’ll throw in an extra dollar.
Hi Bart, I’ve never been good at contests but my guess is a sea turtle.
Good guess Mary, but not the right answer, keep on trying.
Do you give hints? Would I ever come across this track in Hawaii for starters?
it is a mascot for a university in Pennsylvania, a minor league team in New England, a university in Northern California, Babe Ruth would not play baseball when there was one around.
At first I kept thinking it was SNOW, because it looks like snow to me..so my mind was thinking what would be out in the snow (winter) but then after reading the comments I forgot about where you lived…so then I had to reroute my mind to WHITE SAND..am I correct on that? and if so..is it TURTLE?
Hmm . . . banana slugs . . . .
I love Michael Perry’s book. I’ve given a bunch of copies of it for gifts.
