Chesapeake Bay Retriever Fergi, our Open Space Restoration Mascot, and Sawyer are teaching their best friend Twizzler the art of catching a bird in flight. Retrieving between Country Roads out in Loxahatchee, Florida.
Twizzler has all the heart but she’s still a Chesapeake trapped in a Foxhound’s body.
Like Fergi, Twizzler was adopted and we are grateful to be her third family. Twiz spent over 3 months at Palm Beach County’s Animal Control before we lucked out and found her. Kudos to the county for being patient and waiting to find her a home.
It is time for another Guess Contest. This one we will call Guess the Winged Thing Contest. In order to see the winged thing click on to the video and it will appear every now and then. The video is accompanied by Ryan Bingham’s song, “Country Roads” which describes Twizzler’s personality perfectly
The first one to answer correctly in the comment section below will receive free of charge, including shipping, a recycled copy of Patrick Smith’s book ” A Land Remembered”
“A Land Remembered” was the winner of the Florida Historical Society Tebeau Prize as the Most Outstanding Florida Historical Novel. The Award named after Historian Charlton W. Tebeau ranked as Florida’s greatest historian of the 20th century. In 2009 it was voted Best Florida Book for the 9th year in a row by readers of Florida Monthly Magazine
The correct answer needs to include: family, time of flight (on the wing), and at least one habitat where it could be found.
Thanks for playing Guess the Winged Thing.

Thanks for playing,

The answer is a flying squirrel frizbee toy. my dogs have one too.
Well, that is correct but not the answer we are looking for, click on the video and you will see a pic of a Butterfly or Moth. That is the Winged Thing. Back to the Frisbee- they are soft to the dog’s mouth, fun to throw, and are durable.
I have seen them at Gander Mountain and at WoofGang Bakery
