What do you do when you come face to face with a grizzly bear? You stand straight up, arms pointed to the sky and let out a deep roar; not that I have ever had the chance to try it or that I’m saying that it’s a sure fire method to save your hide, but its what Triller told me back in 1980 as he demonstrated the technique to the class. Triller was my Natural Resources Teacher in Northern California. He was always talking about John Muir, Yosemite, Half Dome. I point to that one classroom that shaped me forever.
I have been fortunate enough to spend the last 15 years working outdoors, planting trees, restoring natural areas, managing lakes, ponds, and even working for the last six years at a gopher tortoise preserve.
Open space restoration dot com is my way of sharing with you what I know and what I learn along the way.
