It was 1983 when my communications professor at Arizona State University stated, “you can never step in the same river twice”. It took me a while but I figured it out. The river is constantly moving, the body of water that is traveling thru it is not the same, pebbles have shifted, fish have moved, silt has settled.
He did not actually pen the phrase, which he readily admitted, it was Heraclitus of Ephesus a Greek Philosopher who lived in the fifth century BC who said, “You can never step into the same river; for new waters are always flowing on to you.”
Otter, Kat’s dog from Alaska is enjoying a refreshing creek. Thanks Kat for the pictures and reminding me of that quote which is truer now than ever as our lives change so rapidly with 24 hour news, emails, and cellphones, changing our life perceptions and experiences as fast as water moving down the river.
