Did I get an earful from Wyatt today when I ran into him at Whole Foods, “Thanks for painting me as a carbon burning, land exploiting, deer hunting, right wing nut job,” says Wyatt. I never said you were a deer hunter Wyatt, in fact every year you hunt deer you come back empty.
“I just got back from fishing up by Jupiter Inlet, I don’t understand why fisherman litter it just doesn’t make sense, what happened to make the area better than how you found it”. I mentioned to Wyatt those aren’t fisherman who litter those are litterers who fish. Wyatt was picking up Unagi Sushi (eel) and Organic Apple Cider Vinegar at Whole Foods.
Wyatt, talking faster than a preacher at a drive thru church was counting the days to Snook Season. “I gotta catch another snook before I head north to Minot,” I mentioned to Wyatt that there is a Snook Challenge starting September 1st thru the 28th, catch and release, with photo and tape measure. Entry fees help the Bright Futures Academy Charter School. If you enter the “pro” division you can win $500, enough for a one way ticket back to North Dakota. “You’re a bundle of laughs” says Wyatt, “I’ll give you a snook challenge, try fishing for snook in a place where there is no litter, now that’s a challenge.”
I’ve done it Wyatt, I have hiked way back inland following an east west canal, along my way I saw hog tracks, deer tracks, turkey tracks, bobcat tracks, and eventually saw a doe running and cutting through palmetto openings.
I fished for about 2 hours using a top water lure trying for Tarpon, never caught a thing but watched a snook chase my lure that was just as exciting.
Walking back I got caught in pelting rain, wild winds, and lightning, I’ll start earlier next time but it was a great day. Leaving Whole Foods I asked Wyatt why the organic vinegar? “toe nail fungus” says Wyatt, “knocks it right out” “just let your feet soak for about an hour twice a week for a month and its gone.” Wyatt gets in his truck, turns up The Very Best of Dwight Yoakam CD and drives off amongst the $60,000 plus sports cars and Suv’s that engulf the Whole Foods parking lot.

So Bart..did you write this piece? if so.. that was VERY well done
good job.. that is the kind of writing I like to read in books…..
take care!
Kath
The apple cider vinegar works well on mosquito bites too! Make sure to tell Wyatt if you see him again before he goes.
That’s what I thought … you could make this into a book! Tuesdays with Wyatt …
Hi Maggy,
Thanks Maggy good advice! Wyatt wears mosquito bites like a badge of honor, he wouldn’t treat a bite with a topical application. I pressed him hard on the toenail fungus, only uses the vinegar because the fungus was causing his big toe nail to curve into his skin.
Hi Kath,
I’m glad you enjoyed the article, send more Alaska pics.
